Jakub Jirásek is a writer, director and musician. Born in Prague, raised in Switzerland, currently based in Prague. He got a Master degree in Film directing at FAMU in Prague, spent one semester of Erasmus at Sorbonne Nouvelle - Paris 3.
His fiction short Don’t Be a Pussy was premiered at Premiers Plans d’Angers, won a few prizes at festivals (including golden screen at YDA 2020) and was shortlisted for BAFTA Student Award in 2020. His latest documentary short, White Room, premiered at Raindance Festival 2021 in London and received a few prizes including silver screen at Young Director Award 2022.
In 2022 he was selected for Cannes Films Talent Unlimited residency with his debut feature script Martha and got awarded the main prize by StudioCanal. In 2024 he was selected for Munich FilmUp mentoring and residential lab where he is developing a feature scripted called The Delivery.
He has directed numerous music videos and commercials for clients such as Czech National Broadcast, Pilsner Urquell, Skoda, Erste Bank or Amnesty International.
